Nepal-Bound MG Majestor SUV Sets Guinness World Record for Towing 406-Tonne Train

The upcoming flagship SUV from MG Motor India, the MG Majestor, has entered global headlines after setting a Guinness World Record by towing a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of more than 300 feet.

The feat marks the heaviest train ever pulled by an SUV, pushing the model into an unusual but high-visibility pre-launch spotlight.

The attempt was conducted in Jammu and Kashmir on an operational railway track and was officially verified by Guinness World Records. Importantly, the SUV used was a stock production unit, meaning the record was achieved without any mechanical modifications.

The MG Majestor is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing around 213 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and is available with both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations.

The SUV also features three locking differentials, reinforcing its positioning as a serious off-road-capable full-size SUV rather than just a road-focused premium model.

Positioned above the Gloster in MG’s global lineup, the Majestor is designed as a D-segment premium SUV with a strong focus on space, features, and capability. It will be offered in multiple trims, including Sharp 4x2, Savvy 4x2, and Savvy 4x4, along with both six- and seven-seat configurations.

The record-breaking stunt comes just ahead of the official India launch scheduled for April 20, where MG Motor India is expected to fully unveil pricing and final specifications.

The MG Majestor is confirmed to be Nepal-bound following its India launch, with an expected arrival in the Nepalese market by end-May. The SUV is expected to strengthen MG’s premium portfolio in Nepal, especially in the large SUV segment where demand for feature-rich, diesel-powered models remains steady.

While the commercial rollout is still pending, the Guinness World Record attempt has significantly amplified attention around the SUV’s debut in the premium segment.
